Besides improved performance, you can look forward to using these additional features…

Merging one Tag with another: Now you can easily merge one tag with another. This will delete the tag that is merged, remove that tag from all documents; and automatically add the other tag to these documents. The benefit of this new feature is that in case you misspelled a tag while adding it to a document, you can rectify the error by replacing the incorrect tag with the correct one. To do this, you need not change the tag for each document individually. You can simply create a new tag and merge the incorrect tag into the correct one. This feature also helps in rectifying situations where multiple users accidentally create similar tags (e.g., one user has already created the tag ‘Marketing’ and another user accidentally creates the tag ‘Mktg’. The latter tag can be merged into the ‘Marketing’ tag.).

Sorting of Destination Profile list: Until now, if you wanted to view the Destination Profiles you have saved in Sohodox, the Destination Profile drop-down would not display the list in an alphabetical order. But now, Sohodox displays the profile list in the drop-down in an alphabetical order.

Thunderbird Setup 9.x drag & drop mail Support: Now you can drag and drop your emails from Thunderbird version 9.x onwards, into Sohodox. These email messages can be displayed (previewed) in the Preview pane in Sohodox.

Merging of tags: this new feature will allow you to merge one tag with another to quickly rectify situations where multiple similar tags have been created (e.g. due to typos)

Drag and drop of Thunderbird 9.x mails into Sohodox will be supported.

Important things for you to know about upgrading to Sohodox 7.6

The release of version 7.6 of Sohodox affects users in some important ways. The effect of the release varies, depending on whether you are an existing Sohodox customer or are still evaluating the software. Have a look at the implications…

“I’m still evaluating Sohodox”

If you’re still evaluating Sohodox and have not yet purchased licenses, then continue with your Free Trial as usual. When you buy Sohodox licenses, you will need to download and install the upgrade setup for Version 7.6 and apply the registration key that we send to you via email. Meanwhile, if you want to test-use the new version, you can update your setup. (Before you proceed to do so, don’t forget to refer to the note at the end of this post.)

“I am already a Sohodox customer”

Well, in that case read through this carefully…

Why should I upgrade to Version 7.6 of Sohodox?

Sohodox 7.6 adds useful features that make managing your documents even easier than before! Check out details of new features in Sohodox 7.6.

Will upgrading to version 7.6 erase my existing data?

Not at all! When you upgrade to version 7.6, you will have to download the upgrade setup, install it and run it. The upgrade setup will upgrade your Sohodox DB but it won’t touch your data. This means you do not lose your data. In fact, Sohodox 7.6 will help you manage that data even more efficiently than before.

How do I upgrade to version 7.6?

That depends on whether your Maintenance Subscription of 1 year is currently active or it has ended. If the Maintenance Subscription is currently active, you just need to download and install the upgrade setup, run it, restart Sohodox and continue using it as usual. But if your Maintenance Subscription has come to an end, you will need to purchase Maintenance Subscriptions – as many as the number of Sohodox licenses you own. Once you purchase the Maintenance Subscriptions, we will email you the registration key and the link to download the upgrade setup. You can then download and install the upgrade setup, run it, restart Sohodox and continue using it as usual. That simple!

What are the steps to update my Sohodox installation?

Below are the 6 easy steps to update to Version 7.6:

Take a backup of your DB before upgrading to the latest version.
Make sure that Sohodox is not running on any of the machines when running the upgrade setup.
Start upgrading Sohodox on the machine on which it is installed in the Server mode.
Once the upgrade setup is installed on the server machine, make sure that you start Sohodox once.
The first time you log-in after installing the update setup, you will need to log-in as the superadmin user so that the MainDB gets upgraded to the latest version.
Once this is done, make sure you install the update on all the Client machines individually.

That’s it! Once you have carried out the steps above, you are ready to use Sohodox 7.6 to manage your documents even more efficiently than before!

What if I do not choose to upgrade to version 7.6?

You can still carry on using Sohodox as usual, but you would not be able to use the new features in Sohodox 7.6 which could help you manage your documents even better. Also, in case you faced an issue requiring support from our side, one of the first things we would ask you to do would be to upgrade your version to the latest one. Often, that by itself is sufficient to resolve the issue. So it is always beneficial to keep your Sohodox updated to the latest version.

My Maintenance Subscription ended on or before 13th January 2012. I want to upgrade to Sohodox 7.6. How can I do so?

If your upgrade and support period came to an end on or before 13th January 2012, you will need to purchase as many Maintenance Subscriptions as the number of Sohodox licenses you own. Once you purchase the Maintenance Subscriptions, we will email you the registration key and the link to download the upgrade setup. You can then download and install the upgrade setup, run it, restart Sohodox and continue using it as usual. It’s that simple! Purchase Maintenance Subscriptions now!

Note for both – existing customers as well as users evaluating Sohodox:

Please do not use the full setup to update an existing installation of Sohodox -always use the Update Setup. Also, you must not uninstall an existing version and attempt to install the latest version of Sohodox using the Full Setup. This will not work. Download the update setup and follow the steps given in “What are the steps to update my Sohodox installation?” above.

Version 7.6 brings you Sohodox with user interfaces in Spanish, French and Slovak too, as well as other improvements based on customer feedback. We are sure this will further enhance your experience of using Sohodox.

Sohodox now in more languages!

From version 7.6, the Sohodox setup will be separately available with user interfaces in English, Spanish, French and Slovak. Although the user interface (menus, messages etc.) is now available in the above mentioned languages in addition to English, you can store documents and data in any language in Sohodox.
